U.S. President Trump’s son-in-law and senior adviser Jared Kushner is at the end of a Middle East tour in Morocco in a bid to promote the president’s regional plan for peace and economic development.

After arriving in Morocco on Thursday, Kushner met with Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), according to the The Jerusalem Post, citing a U.S. administration official. In addition, Kushner held talks with Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah, Oman’s minister responsible for foreign affairs, said the paper.

According to the official, the meetings were “extremely productive,” the Post reported.

Kushner was also in Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Israel, and Egypt during the current tour.

He did not meet with any Palestinian officials on his trip, reports the World Street Journal (WSJ).  Kushner’s visit now was “to build off” the June conference in Bahrain that was aimed at outlining predominantly how the Palestinian economy could be helped, said the WSJ.

The Palestinian Authority (PA) announced a halt to diplomatic contacts with the Trump administration when the president announced U.S. recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital in December 2017,and has blasted the American political and economic steps toward achieving peace.

The political stalemate in Israel, with another Knesset election scheduled for September after no government was formed following April’s ballot, has been given as a reason for the further delay in presenting the political vision for peace.
