Major airline cuts Tel Aviv flights as security concerns mount

Dutch airline KLM announced Wednesday evening that it will temporarily suspend its flights between Amsterdam and Tel Aviv beginning March 1, citing commercial and operational considerations as growing regional tensions raise concerns across the aviation industry.

In a statement, the airline said continued operation of the route is currently not feasible, adding that the decision was part of an ongoing review of its global network in response to market demand and operational conditions.

“At this stage, operating flights to Tel Aviv is not commercially and operationally viable,” the company said, noting that it continues to adjust destinations based on evolving circumstances.

Passengers affected by the suspension are being notified individually and will be offered options to rebook flights or receive full refunds. KLM said it will continue monitoring developments and reassess the decision as conditions change.

While the airline did not explicitly link the move to security concerns, the suspension comes amid heightened instability across the Middle East and growing fears of a wider conflict involving Iran, Israel, and the United States.

Airlines operating in the region have increasingly adjusted schedules or rerouted flights as geopolitical risks and operational uncertainty intensify.

KLM emphasized that the suspension is temporary and that flights could resume once operational conditions allow.
