Mamdani’s wife liked social media posts celebrating Oct. 7 massacres

The Syrian-American first lady of New York City liked social media posts denying Hamas rapes on Oct. 7, 2023, along with posts celebrating the invasion.

The first lady of New York City liked multiple pro-Hamas social media posts during and after the October 7, 2023, invasion of Israel, the Jewish Insider reported on Friday.

Rama Duwaji, a Syrian-American artist who has been the wife of New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani since February 2025, liked multiple pro-Hamas posts on Instagram in the wake of the 2023 attacks on Israel.

The first post Duwaji liked was published during the invasion on October 7, 2023, by a far-left handle called The Slow Factory.

The post featured photographs of Hamas forces breaking through a border fence and invading Israel, with an attached comment justifying the Hamas attacks.

“Keep in mind that these walls were built to separate along ethnic lines, the very definition of apartheid,” one comment read.

“Gaza has been aptly described as the world’s largest and longest-standing open-air prison, for millions of people who have committed no crime and have had no trial.”

Months later, Duwaji liked an Instagram post published in February 2024 that claimed that a New York Times investigation into the use of rape and other forms of sexual violence by Gazan terrorists on October 7, 2023, was “fabricated.”

Duwaji, who has publicly criticized Israel in the past and promoted false claims of famine in the Gaza Strip, also liked posts that featured the slogan “From the River to the Sea,” calling for the destruction of the State of Israel.

One post Duwaji liked included video footage of a crowd chanting: “Every colonized people, every occupied people has the right to self-defense.”

The post also featured the slogan “Resistance against occupation is a human right.”

Mamdani’s office responded to the report in a statement to the Jewish Insider condemning the October 7 invasion.

“Mayor Mamdani has been clear and consistent: Hamas is a terrorist organization, October 7 was a horrific war crime, and he has condemned that violence unequivocally.”

However, Mamdani himself refused to address his wife’s support for the October 7 invasion.

“My wife is the love of my life, and she’s also a private person who has held no formal position on my campaign or in my City Hall,” Mamdani told reporters on Friday.
