Man wounded in Jerusalem criminal-related car explosion

Jerusalem is not a city known for criminal activity, but a man was injured when the car he was driving blew up, apparently from a bomb placed by a rival gang.

A man was moderately wounded Wednesday morning in the center of Jerusalem when the car he was driving in exploded.

The man, 58, was evacuated to a hospital in the capital with wounds to his lower body.

A police spokesman said the incident was criminal-related and ruled out the possibility that I was a terror attack.

The initial assessment is that the incident was an attempt on the man’s life, and that an explosive device was attached to his car, possibly by rival elements.

The target has prior convictions and a police record.
