Marjorie Taylor Greene accuses Israel of war crimes for retaliating against Hamas

Greene’s comments put her at odds with the vast majority of her Republican colleagues, who have long supported Israel’s right to defend itself.

Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene hit out at Israel on Wednesday, criticizing airstrikes in retaliation for Hamas breaking the ceasefire in a fatal attack against Israeli soldiers.

In a social media post dated October 29, the Georgia lawmaker cited figures from the Hamas-run Gaza health ministry — which have not been independently verified and do not differentiate between civilians and combatants — claiming Israel’s operations had killed 104 people, including 46 children. “46 CHILDREN!!! Are these not war crimes?” Greene wrote, referring to the Israeli response that followed the attack on its forces in Gaza.

Greene’s comments put her at odds with the vast majority of her Republican colleagues, who have long supported Israel’s right to defend itself.

Her remarks also come as she continues to challenge key foreign policy positions of her party and the White House, including opposition to U.S. military aid for both Israel and Ukraine.

In recent months, Greene has increasingly aligned herself with the small faction in Congress that accuses Israel of “genocide” in Gaza — rhetoric more commonly associated with far-left lawmakers.

Her stance has previously drawn sharp rebukes from pro-Israel groups. In August, she clashed publicly with the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), which accused her of “betraying American values” after she described Israel’s campaign against Hamas as genocide.

Responding online, Greene wrote that AIPAC “serves and lobbies for a foreign country, Israel,” adding, “I’m as AMERICAN as they come! I can’t be bought and I’m not backing down!! Bring. It. On.”

AIPAC dismissed her claims as “disgusting,” calling her “the newest member of the anti-Israel Squad” and warning supporters that her rhetoric represented “a dangerous distortion of the truth.”

Greene’s attacks on Israel mark a widening rift between her and GOP leadership, which remains firmly supportive of Israel’s war against Hamas and the U.S.-Israel alliance.
