‘Millions of Europeans are with you,’ Dutch leader tells Netanyahu

Leader of largest Dutch party speaks with Israel’s prime minister, blames “weak politicians” and biased media outlets for growing anti-Israel backlash in Europe.

The leader of the largest party in the Netherlands spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over the weekend, offering his support and downplaying European criticism of Israel’s war on the Hamas terror organization.

On Sunday, Geert Wilders, chairman of the Party for Freedom, spoke by phone with Netanyahu, telling the Israeli premier that despite the impression created by the continent’s “weak” leaders and “biased media,” millions of Europeans back Israel and its war on Hamas.

“Just had a conversation by phone with Israeli PM Bibi Netanyahu and I told him that besides criticism from weak politicians and biased media, there are millions and millions of people in Europe supporting him and his brave actions to free both Israel and Gaza from the terrorists of Hamas,” Wilders tweeted shortly after the call.

“His fight is our fight since we cherish life and freedom while they love death and destruction. #AmIsraelChai.”

A longtime supporter of Israel, Wilders castigated Hamas last week for continuing to hold 50 Israelis hostage, calling Hamas terrorists “savages” and their supporters in Europe “traitors.”

“Victims don’t hold hostages,” Wilders tweeted. “Savages do. Heroes support the hostages. Traitors support Hamas and call for sanctions. What side are you on?”

Last Thursday, Wilders declared that his Party for Freedom “stands behind Israel” and called for “the total destruction of Hamas.”

In July, Wilders castigated French President Emmanuel Macron’s decision to recognize unilateral Palestinian statehood, suggesting such a state be established in France.

“Here will be the new Palestinian state. Big parts of France are already Islamic anyway,” Wilders tweeted.

“Good luck, Emmanuel Macron and France! Happy suicide!”
