Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Wednesday that Israel and the United States are in full coordination over talks with Iran, insisting there are “no surprises” between Jerusalem and Washington as the Trump administration pursues a possible deal with Tehran.
Speaking at the start of a Security Cabinet meeting, Netanyahu said he was in frequent contact with US President Donald Trump and that Israeli and American officials were speaking daily.
“We are maintaining continuous contact with our friends in the US,” Netanyahu said. “I speak with President Trump on an almost daily basis. My people and his people speak daily, including today. And I will speak again with President Trump later tonight.”
“There is full coordination between us; there are no surprises,” he added.
Netanyahu said Israel and the US share the same core objective: removing Iran’s enriched uranium and dismantling its enrichment program.
“We share common goals, and the most important objective is the removal of all enriched material from Iran and the dismantling of Iran’s enrichment capabilities,” Netanyahu said.
His remarks came amid reports that the US and Iran were moving closer to a framework for a possible agreement after weeks of fighting and diplomacy.
Reuters reported Wednesday that Trump said the United States “will get” Iran’s uranium, as Washington seeks to prevent Tehran from developing a nuclear weapon.
Trump has said he believes a deal can be reached, while also warning that military action could resume if diplomacy fails. Netanyahu said Israel was preparing for all possibilities.
“President Trump believes he can achieve this in one way or another,” Netanyahu said. “However, we are prepared for any scenario, and this is the directive I have given to the IDF and our security agencies.”
“Israel is stronger than ever; Iran and its proxies are weaker than ever,” he said.
