The Likud’s objective for the next general elections is to win 40 out of the 120 Knesset seats, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Monday at a party gathering in Ramat Gan, a Tel Aviv suburb.

The event included party members who plan to run in the local elections on October 30.

The Israeli leader encouraged the candidates, saying the party will due well due to the “extraordinary support we receive from the Israel public, which sees our great accomplishments.”

Netanyahu’s Likud party currently holds 30 seats and is the largest in the Knesset.

“I don’t know exactly when the general elections will take place, but I’m telling you that 35 is a likely number, and 40 is the objective,” the prime minister said. “We’re aiming there, and with God’s help, and with your help, the Likud will grow.”

If Israel went to elections today, according a Midgam poll conducted last month, Likud would receive 30 Knesset seats. Earlier polls indicated the ruling party would win as many as 35.

Israel’s national elections are scheduled for November 5, 2019.
