As the ceasefire nears its end, Iran’s supreme leader reportedly warns that the Islamic Republic is ready to return to fighting.

Iran’s supreme leader appears to have issued a fiery statement on Saturday, warning that the Islamic Republic is prepared to resume war against the United States and Israel as the ceasefire nears its expiration.
“Just as Iran’s drones strike like lightning against the U.S. and Zionist criminals, Israel, the brave navy is also prepared to inflict a new bitter defeat on enemies,” read a post published on Mojtaba Khamenei’s Telegram channel.
In a series of messages, Khamenei apparently struck a defiant tone, emphasizing that Iran is not willing to surrender despite the heavy damage incurred during the conflict.
“The Army is like the nation’s child, which arises from within the heart of the people’s homes,” one post read. “The Islamic Republic of Iran’s Army is now courageously defending the land, water, and flag that belong to it.”
Khamenei also appeared to reference Iran’s network of regional proxies, stating that the Iranian military “is standing side by side with their comrades from other armed forces.”
He added that Iran and its allies are “battling the two leading armies of disbelief and arrogance,” phrasing that is widely understood to refer to the United States and Israel.
In another claim, Khamenei said Iran’s “Islamic army” had already “humiliated” Washington and Jerusalem on the global stage.
The statements come amid deep uncertainty surrounding Khamenei himself. The cleric — son of former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei — has not been seen publicly since his father was killed in the opening strikes of Operation Epic Fury.
Although Iran’s highest Islamic council named Mojtaba Khamenei as the new supreme leader, no proof of life has been presented to confirm he is actively governing the country. Reports have suggested he may have been severely wounded in the same attack that killed his father, with some even claiming he is in a coma.
If true, it raises significant questions about who is actually making decisions for the Islamic Republic and who is authoring the increasingly aggressive statements being released in Khamenei’s name.
