A Palestinian terrorist attempted to blow up a military court in Samaria on Wednesday, but police securing the compound were successful in thwarting the attack.
The assailant arrived at a checkpoint on the way to the courthouse and was requested to produce an identification card. After claiming he did not have one, Israeli security forces became suspicious. They searched his clothing and found he was carrying two pipe bombs.
An initial investigation revealed that the terrorist intended to detonate the explosives near or inside the court while targeting the nearby Israelis.
Sappers were alerted to the scene and safely dismantled the explosive charges.
The suspected terrorist, 16, hails from the Jenin area. He was arrested and taken for further questioning.
