Palestinian girl sings libel: Israel poisoned Arafat

A Palestinian girl’s poem repeats a libel that Israel murdered political leader Arafat, propagating anti-Semitism.

The Palestinian education system continues to brainwash its students, as is evident in the poem recently recited by a Palestinian girl on TV, which repeats the Palestinian libel that Israel poisoned and murdered Palestinian leader and arch-terrorist Yasser Arafat.

“The treacherous occupier [Israel] killed you [Arafat]…They poisoned you,” she declared.

The Palestinian Authority frequently publishes libels that demonize Israel and the Jews in its ongoing attempts to teach the Palestinian population to hate Israel.

The spreading of the libel about Israel’s nefarious plots against Arafat is so successful that even children repeat it.

In a March episode of The Best Home, an official PA TV children’s program, a girl repeats the libel in a poem she wrote, while the show’s guest, Palestinian Authority (PA) Minister of Education Sabri Saidam, listens.

“Where are you, Arafat? The treacherous occupier killed you, in order to destroy and take over this land,” she croons, according to a translation by Palestinian Media Watch (PMW). “They poisoned you and thought they had killed you. They did not know that all [our] people love you and follow your path so that we will liberate Palestine. We will always stand firm until all of Palestine is liberated. Millions of Martyrs are marching towards Jerusalem.”

The week before this episode aired, an op-ed in the official PA daily Al-Hayat Al-Jadida stated that former Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon assassinated Arafat with poison.

Sometimes the libel also accuses the US of helping Israel assassinate Arafat.

Arafat’s Death – An Israeli Hit?

When Yasser Arafat died in November 2004, the PA spread the libel that Israel poisoned and murdered him. The circumstances surrounding Arafat’s death remain unclear, but medical investigations have repeatedly refuted the claims that he was poisoned.

A 2013 study by Swiss scientists commissioned by Al Jazeera claimed to have found unnaturally high levels of polonium in Arafat’s body. A different commission rebutted the findings and said the levels of polonium found were of a natural source.

In May 2015, French forensics experts concluded, based on samples from his grave, that Israel did not assassinate him.

In December 2016, a special commission of inquiry formed by the Palestinians substantiated PA head Mahmoud Abbas’ claim that former Fatah official and political rival Mohammed Dahlan was responsible for Arafat’s death.

Still, the PA continues to blame Israel for Arafat’s death, in spite of the complete lack of evidence.
