Palestinian terrorist stabs Israeli in Petah Tikvah

A Palestinian terrorist wounded a civilian in a stabbing attack in Petah Tikvah.

A Palestinian terrorist stabbed and wounded an Israeli in the city of Petah Tikvah, in the center of Israel, on Monday.

The terrorist, 21, a resident of Qalqilya who was in Israel illegally, stabbed his victim and then fled the scene. An Israeli who saw the attack hit the terrorist with his car, knocking him down. The terrorist was apprehended by a passerby and subsequently turned over to the police, who took him into custody.

The Shin Bet (Israel’s Security Agency) stated that the terrorist previously served time in Israeli prisons for security-related offenses.

The victim, an Israeli Arab from Ar’ara in his thirties, sustained moderate wounds to his upper body and was taken to Beilinson hospital in the city for treatment. Reports say he is a truck driver who was eating his lunch.

According to media reports, the terrorist told police he committed the attack “for the sake of Al-Aqsa,” the mosque on the Temple Mount, which has been the center of tensions in the past week.

Petah Tikvah’s Mayor, Itzik Braverman, who arrived at the scene of the attack, lauded the civilians for their alert and quick actions, which prevented further injuries from the attack.

This incident is the latest in a long series of Palestinian terror attacks over the past two years, claiming the lives of 55 victims and wounding close to 700.
