Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte will visit Israel September 2-5, presidential spokesman Harry Roque confirmed Monday.
Duterte is expected to hold bilateral talks with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and witness the signing of several cooperation agreements.
“The President and Prime Minister Netanyahu are expected to discuss common concerns and ways of expanding cooperation in the areas of labor, tourism, trade, agriculture, counterterrorism, and security and law enforcement,” Roque said.
Duterte will also meet with members of the Filipino community in Israel.
The visit will be the first by a Philippine leader to Israel since diplomatic relations were established between the two countries in 1957. Roque said Duterte would also travel to Jordan.
