Over the course of the operation, authorities said they detained hundreds of people who were in the country illegally, along with suspects accused of employing, harboring, or assisting them.

Police issued 30-day closure orders against seven businesses after officers found they employed or housed more than 50 people who were in Israel illegally, according to authorities, as part of a weeklong enforcement operation led by Northern District Commander Meir Eliyahu.
Police said the campaign involved Northern District units working with Border Police, the National Guard, and local immediate response teams.
Over the course of the operation, authorities said they detained hundreds of people who were in the country illegally, along with suspects accused of employing, harboring, or assisting them.
Among the sites closed were three construction locations run by the same company, where police said 23 people without legal status were found working.
A café in Kafr Kanna was shut after police said it had been converted into a boarding house; officers reported finding 19 people there who were in Israel illegally.
Police also closed a vegetable store in Nazareth after detaining two people they said were in the country illegally. An aluminum business in Migdal Ha’emek was shut after police said five people were found there. A shawarma restaurant was closed after police said it employed two people without legal status.
At one construction site, police said they discovered a worker who was in Israel illegally and was also sleeping at the location.
During a search, officers found a book in Arabic featuring a picture of Adolf Hitler, police said. The worker was arrested, and the employer was detained for questioning.
Authorities linked the crackdown to a terror attack on December 26 carried out by an illegal worker employed by an Israeli business who used the employer’s car, police said. The attacker killed two people and wounded several others, according to the account provided.
The suspect, Ahmed Abu al-Rov, from Judea and Samaria (the West Bank), was arrested and remains in custody, police said. His two brothers were also taken in and transferred for questioning, authorities added.
