Shocking! Some 29.7 million Americans say it is “acceptable” to hold neo-Nazi or white supremacist views.
Nearly one in 10 Americans say it is “acceptable” to hold neo-Nazi or white supremacist views, according to a new ABC News/Washington Post poll.
This number consists of some 29.7 million Americans.
Among 1,014 respondents surveyed in the poll, 9 percent said neo-Nazi views are acceptable, with 83 percent calling such views “unacceptable” and 8 percent saying they had no opinion on the matter.
A vast majority, 72 percent feel “strongly” that such views are unacceptable.
The survey found that 13 percent of Republicans and 17 percent of respondents supporting President Donald Trump deemed neo-Nazi views as acceptable.
The poll was conducted in English and Spanish via landline and cellphone calls from Aug. 16-20.
The survey comes shortly after the violent white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Va., where a 32-year-old woman was killed and 19 were injured when a neo-Nazi supporter rammed his vehicle into a crowd of counter-protesters.
