Poll: Israelis trust doctors and the IDF—but not politicians

A new survey by Israel’s Central Bureau of Statistics found that the healthcare system and the IDF remain Israel’s most trusted institutions, while confidence in the government, the Knesset, and the judiciary continues to lag far behind.

The healthcare system topped the rankings with 87% public trust, followed by the IDF at 83%, including an overwhelming 92% support among Jewish Israelis. Trust in the military was highest among older Israelis, reflecting its central role in the country’s security during nearly three years of war.

Confidence dropped sharply for the police (55%) and the judiciary (48%), with the latter exposing deep divisions across Israeli society. While nearly two-thirds of secular Israelis expressed confidence in the courts, trust among the ultra-Orthodox stood at just 13%.

At the bottom of the list were Israel’s political institutions. Only 36% of Israelis said they trust the government and 33% the Knesset, while roughly six in ten expressed little or no confidence in either institution, underscoring widespread public frustration with the country’s political leadership.
