Iran has been working closely with the Open Society Foundation (OSF), founded by American billionaire George Soros, Iran’s foreign minister acknowledged Sunday, the Israel Hayom daily reported.

Addressing a question-and-answer session at the Iranian parliament, Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said that Iran’s collaboration with the OSF predated his tenure, meaning it has been going on for at least five years.

According to a BBC report quoted by Israel Hayom, Zarif said that he has managed to “restrict and regulate it.”

The report did not specify how Iran worked with OSF.

Soros has often been accused of promoting an anti-Israeli agenda through left-wing NGOs.

An 87-year-old Hungarian-American Holocaust survivor who supports left-wing organizations, Soros is averse to the current government in Israel. He has supported a number of organizations with far-left agendas such as Breaking the Silence, B’Tselem and Yesh Din.

These NGOs paint the IDF as racist and support the Palestinian viewpoint in its fight against Israel.

In February, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu charged Soros with being behind an extensive campaign to stop the Israeli authorities from deporting illegal migrants from the country.
