Report: Israel bombs Hezbollah target in Syria

Has Israel acted on its vow to prevent Hezbollah from obtaining game-changing weapons against the Jewish state?

Israel’s Air Force (IAF) attacked a weapons depot belonging to the Hezbollah terror organization in Syria on the border with Lebanon, Arab media reported Wednesday.

According to the report, the weapons cache was situated north of Damascus, while the IAF launched its attack from Lebanese airspace.

Six projectiles werefired during the attack, the report continued. Loud explosions were said to be heard in the vicinity. There were no reports of casualties.

The Israeli military did not comment on the report.

There have been several previous reports of IAF airstrikes on Hezbollah targets in Syria, primarily against weapons shipments. Many of the weapons shipments are financed by Iran.

Israel has repeatedly vowed to prevent Hezbollah from acquiring game-changing weaponry and has warned that any such attempts would be met with a strong Israeli response.

In a recent meeting with European Union ambassadors in December, Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman made it clear that Israel has acted and will continue to act in order to stop Hezbollah from acquiring both advanced and chemical weapons from the Syrian government.
