The State attorney and the police are reportedly at odds regarding Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s corruption charges, with the attorney upset about the case not being fully prepared by the police.

The attorney general, who has the final say on whether to indict Netanyahu, has sharply criticized the police for rushing to recommend that the attorney general indict Netanyahu on bribery charges, Israel’s Hadashot news reported on Wednesday.

According to the report, the state attorney slammed the police’s “haste” and “blowing up the balloon of their recommendations to its fullest, and now any stepping back from them will seem as a collapse. The case isn’t ready, and more investigation will be required.”

‘Full of holes likes Swiss cheese’

Netanyahu on Wednesday again dismissed the police recommendations, calling the allegations “biased, extreme, full of holes like Swiss cheese.”

Netanyahu said his government remains stable despite the police’s recommendations, and that he is confident as always that “the truth will come to light and nothing will come of this.” He accused police of being on a witch hunt and vowed to remain in office.

Netanyahu’s lawyer, Amit Hadad, said police recommendations of corruption charges are based on “false” statements.

Police said in a statement that Netanyahu had accepted gifts valued at 750,000 shekels ($214,000) from billionaire film producer Arnon Milchan, and that in exchange, Netanyahu operated on Milchan’s behalf on US visa matters and helped Milchan with the Israeli media market. This case in known as Case 1000.
