Report: Trump, Netanyahu to discuss mass migration from Gaza

Amid Hamas’ ongoing refusal to disarm, president’s proposal to facilitate mass migration out of the Gaza Strip is reportedly back on the table and will be one of the subjects discussed during his meeting with Netanyahu.

President Donald Trump’s February 2025 proposal for mass migration of Arabs out of the Gaza Strip is reportedly back on the table, as the implementation of the second phase of the Gaza peace plan appears to have hit an impasse.

According to a report by Israel Hayom’s Ariel Kahana on Tuesday night, the Trump administration has taken up the proposal once again, a year after he presented the plan during Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s February 4, 2025 visit to the White House.

Trump is expected to discuss the plan with Netanyahu during their meeting at the White House on Wednesday, as one of the possible options for confronting Hamas over its ongoing refusal to surrender its arsenal.

Last year, the president said that the US would “take over the Gaza Strip,” and that the coastal enclave’s entire population of roughly two million people would be resettled elsewhere.

Shortly afterward, however, the proposal appeared to have fallen off the administration’s agenda, with no further public mentions of the mass migration plan.

When the White House presented its 20-point plan for the Gaza Strip in September, the relocation of Gazans was noticeably absent, though it retained a clause ensuring that Gazans “who wish to leave will be free to do so,” even as the plan encouraged “people to stay.”

Some reports have indicated that the US and Israel have quietly worked to find third-party countries to take in Gazans, though there has been no official confirmation from either Washington or Jerusalem.

Late last year, Israel became the first country in the world to recognize Somaliland as an independent republic, fueling rumors that the move was part of a larger agreement to secure a refuge for Gaza’s population.
