The Trump administration has proposed a $1 billion-dollar one-time payment for positions on the new Gaza Board of Peace, according to a report published by Bloomberg.

Over the weekend, Bloomberg released details from a draft charter for the new Board of Peace, calling on countries that seek permanent seats on the body to pay “at least one billion dollars.”

States which do not contribute at least one billion dollars will be barred from long-term membership on the board, the draft charter reads.

“Each Member State shall serve a term of no more than three years from this Charter’s entry into force, subject to renewal by the Chairman,” Bloomberg revealed on Saturday.

“The three-year membership term shall not apply to Member States that contribute more than $1,000,000,000 in cash funds to the Board of Peace within the first year of the Charter’s entry into force.”

President Donald Trump announced the establishment of the Board of Peace on Friday, with an Executive Board at the helm, led by US Secretary Marco Rubio, White House Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff, Trump’s son-in-law and adviser Jared Kushner, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, American billionaire and chairman of the UJA-Federation of New York Marc Rowan, World Bank President Ajay Banga, and US Deputy National Security Adviser Robert Gabriel.

The Board of Peace is expected to hold at least one annual vote, and additional meetings at the chairman’s discretion, while non-voting meetings of the executive board are expected quarterly.

Decisions would require a majority vote but still be subject to the chairman’s approval.

The White House did not comment on the reported plan to impose a one-billion-dollar buy-in requirement for long-term membership.
