The Pentagon is sending thousands of additional troops to the Middle East in the coming days as the Trump administration ramps up pressure on Iran while weighing further military action if the fragile ceasefire collapses, according to a report in The Washington Post.
The deployment includes roughly 6,000 troops aboard the USS George H.W. Bush and its accompanying warships, along with about 4,200 Marines expected to arrive later this month.
Two senior U.S. officials said the move reflects contingency planning for a possible ground incursion into Iran if diplomatic efforts fail.
