Report: Middle East ‘deal of the century’ ready for release, Trump pleased with final result

The U.S. president is said to be “happy” with the plan presented to him by advisers.

The Trump administration’s Middle East peace plan is finished and President Trump has been briefed on its contents, according to Fox News, citing two senior administration officials as sources on Sunday.

The final draft of the administration’s “Deal of the Century” is 175 to 200 pages long, and fewer than five people have access to the complete document, said Fox.

“The plan is done… [the president] is happy with the parameters of the deal,” a senior administration official said.

U.S. President Donald Trump reportedly was briefed a number of times on the specifics of the deal by U.S. Ambassador to Israel David Friedman, senior adviser and Trump son-in-law Jared Kushner, and Mideast special peace envoy Jason Greenblatt.

Officials said that the plan is unlikely to be released before the upcoming Israeli elections on April 9th. Friedman reportedly said previously, however, that the president was working on a tight schedule, in order to move ahead with the plan before becoming too occupied with the 2020 U.S. presidential election, and that the objective would be to publicize it very soon after the Israeli ballot, as soon as the end of April, at which point the new Israeli government might not yet be set up.

U.S. officials have refused to get into details of the plan and have deflected media reports about its contents. “We are not going to do anything that threatens Israel’s security,” a senior administration official told Fox on Sunday.

In August, Trump said Israel would pay a higher price in peace negotiations with the Palestinians. Now that Israel won “very big” with the recent U.S. Embassy move to Jerusalem, the Palestinians “will get something very good,” Trump said. “It’s their turn next.”

Kushner is set to visit Warsaw, Poland, later this week to attend a summit hosted by the United States and Poland to discuss regional issues regarding the Middle East, including Israeli-Palestinian peace.

At the end of the month, Kushner is expected to travel with Greenblatt to five Gulf countries to discuss the specifics of the Trump administration’s Israeli-Palestinian peace deal with regional leaders as he tries to garner more support for the plan.

Administration officials have said Trump is hopeful about the plan’s ability to move forward. “We have been given a different set of circumstances,” a senior administration official said, according to the Fox News report, apparently referring to the changed geopolitical situation in the Middle East in light of the Iranian threat, a concern shared by Israel and Arab countries.
