The IDF’s Search and Rescue unit on Saturday recovered and extracted the final body buried beneath the rubble of a collapsed Tel Aviv construction site, setting the final death toll from the incident at six.
Since the site’s caving-in on Monday, rescue teams led by the IDF’s Home Front Command have been searching for survivors inside the wreckage of the four-story parking garage that collapsed.
Another 23 people were injured in the incident and extracted from the debris.
The police and the supervising construction company have launched an investigation, while two individuals have so far been arrested on suspicion of negligence related to the disaster.
The Home Front Command, which held a special ceremony at the site after their rescue efforts concluded, is often sent around the world to help locate victims from earthquakes, tsunamis and other natural disasters.
The collapse left a massive crater in the center of the upscale commercial area, and its rehabilitation is expected to take a long time.
