Second American ‘armada’ steaming toward Iran, Trump warns

President Trump says Iran should “make a deal,” warning that a second American naval force is steaming toward Iran.

The United States Navy has dispatched a second fleet of warships toward Iran, President Donald Trump revealed on Tuesday evening, urging Iran to “make a deal” while it still has the opportunity to do so.

During a speech to supporters in Clive, Iowa, Trump touted the one-day air campaign against Iran’s nuclear program last June, saying that Iran was roughly 30 days away from achieving the capacity to produce nuclear weapons before the strike.

“In June, we obliterated Iran’s nuclear capacity in Operation Midnight Hammer,” Trump said. “People have been waiting for 22 years to do that, and we were right at the end. They were about a month away from having a nuclear weapon, and we had to do it.”

Shifting to the current tensions with Tehran, Trump said that the US has another “armada” en route to the region, after the USS Abraham Lincoln, a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier, arrived in the Middle East with its battle group.

“There is another beautiful armada floating beautifully toward Iran. So we’ll see.”

Trump said Iran “should have made a deal the first time” adding that if they had, “they’d have a country,” while expressing hope that the regime is now prepared to compromise.

“I hope they make a deal.”

Iran and the US have quietly resumed indirect talks mediated by Oman, Israel Hayom reported on Tuesday.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi is reportedly representing Tehran in the talks, while Trump’s special envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, is leading the American team.

Sources cited by the report say Iran has shown some flexibility regarding its nuclear program.

However, the US has also issued demands regarding Iran’s ballistic missile program and the violent crackdown on anti-regime protests, with no breakthrough on either of those issues.
