Senior Iranian officials caught following Mossad’s X account

The Mossad mocked senior Iranian officials for secretly following its Farsi-language X account, sarcastically dubbing them “loyal followers” of Israel’s spy agency.

Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency called out senior Iranian officials for following its Farsi-language X account, humorously describing them as “loyal followers” of the Israeli entity on social media.

On Sunday, the Mossad’s Persian X page claimed that Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps commander Maj. Gen. Mohammad Pakpour, Iranian Armed Forces commander Maj. Gen. Abdolrahim Mousavi and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi all follow the account.

“The respected gentlemen Pakpour, Mousavi and Araghchi are among our most loyal viewers,” the post read, adding that the three men use alternative phones and VPNs (Virtual private networks) in an attempt to hide their identities.

The post then sarcastically added that it was reciprocally following the three men on the social media platform, as a “gesture of appreciation.”

The account warned Iranian users that while they were welcome to continue viewing its posts, they should bear in mind that any public engagement with the account could lead to being arrested by the Iranian authorities.

“You may keep watching our content, but for your own safety, please avoid following the page or reacting to our posts,” the Mossad wrote.

The organization pledged to “continue providing important information” to Iranian civilians.

Last Thursday, Mossad’s Farsi X account reached out directly to Iranians affected by the recent war.

Speaking to Iranian citizens, the page offered telemedicine services to Iranians needing medical assistance or advice.

In a video posted alongside the offer, Farsi-language Israeli journalist Menashe Amir said that Iran’s leadership should focus on taking care of its citizens, rather than warfare.

People don’t have sufficient income, inflation is raging, banks are not functioning,” Amir said, adding that “we hear about people who buy prescription medicines at subsidized prices and then sell them on the black market to get money to buy bread.”
