SHOCKER: US allows Hamas to remain a ‘political party’ if they disarm – report

Israel has voiced major objections to the reported framework, particularly any plan that would allow Hamas to remain a political force.

By World Israel News Staff

A Palestinian source told Sky News Arabia that Hamas has reached an understanding with the U.S. administration under which the terror group would hand over its weapons and provide maps of Gaza’s tunnel network in exchange for being accepted as a political party and not targeted.

The source said the transfer of weapons and tunnel maps would be carried out “through a mechanism that has not yet been disclosed.”

The reported framework would also allow Hamas political and military leaders who wish to leave Gaza to do so, with what the source described as an American commitment that Israel would not target those leaders, or Hamas officials already abroad, in the future. Turkey was cited as a possible destination “or another place willing to receive them.”

The source also claimed Washington would support integrating some Hamas police personnel into a future Gaza administration on condition they undergo “Israeli-American security screening.”

At the same time, the source said, Israel has expressed serious reservations about several elements of the reported framework, especially any arrangement that would leave Hamas operating as a political party in the Palestinian arena.

The Palestinian Authority, the source claimed, would not oppose the approach as long as it helps end the war, solidify a ceasefire, and speed reconstruction.

The report follows comments from President Donald Trump on Wednesday, who said Hamas had already agreed to disarm as part of earlier understandings.

“Hamas has agreed to give up their weapons. They were born with a weapon in their hands, so it’s not easy to do. But that’s what they agreed to. They’ve got to do it. And if they don’t do it, they’ll be blown away very quickly,” Trump said.

It also comes after separate claims earlier this week, cited by Walla from Asharq Al-Awsat, that Hamas is weighing allowing some senior figures to leave Gaza as talks move toward the next phase of the ceasefire process.
