Israel remains on high alert on its northern border with Lebanon and Syria as Hezbollah, an Iranian terror proxy, as well as rebel groups in Syria, continue to pose a major threat to the Jewish State.
IDF soldiers patrolling on Mount Hermon on the border with Syria reported hearing fires shot near them on Monday. No injuries or damage were caused in the incident.
The shots were reportedly fired from light weapons.
It is unclear if the IDF unit was the target of the gunshots, and the IDF has launched an investigation into the incident.
Israel’s northern border has been tense in recent months as a result of the heavy fighting being waged by opposing factions in the Syria civil war.
