A stabbing attack in the Samaria region on Monday was thwarted without any shots fired or reported injuries.
IDF soldiers thwarted a stabbing attack in Samaria on Monday morning at a hitchhiking stop near the IDF’s Menashe Command base outside Har Bracha, located in the vicinity of Shechem (Nablus).
A number of soldiers managed to subdue the terrorist without firing any shots. There were no reported deaths or injuries in the incident.
“The terrorist put a bag down about 50 meters from the stop and approached in a suspicious fashion, wielding a weapon,” explained Joseph Amir, an EMT of the United Hatzalah emergency medical response organization at the scene of the attack.
“A young girl also waiting at the stop alerted the soldiers to the terrorist’s approach and the soldiers subdued the terrorist without shooting him,” he continued. “Thankfully, no one was hurt in the incident.”
According to an initial investigation, the terrorist had arrived at the hitchhiking station located on the side of the road towards Jerusalem. He then pulled out a screwdriver and tried stabbing the soldier who was apparently on guard duty.
According to Amir, however, the terrorist’s intended target remains unknown.
“It was unclear who the intended victim was, whether it was one of the soldiers or one of the civilians at the bus stop,” he said.
The terrorist is now being interrogated, with the incident undergoing further investigation.
