‘Stop the genocide’ – Greta Thunberg at Rome anti-Israel rally

Former climate-change activist Greta Thunberg and UN official Francesca Albanese led a charged anti-Israel protest in Rome.

Anti-Israel activist Greta Thunberg and antisemitic UN official Francesca Albanese led a raucous pro-Palestinian rally in Rome on Saturday.

Thunberg, once hailed as a climate change wunderkind, pivoted her focus to anti-Israel activism following the October 7 Hamas-led massacres. She was recently detained by Israel after participating in a flotilla attempting to breach the naval blockade and reach the Gaza Strip.

After leading a march through the streets of the Italian capital, Thunberg spoke at an anti-Israel conference held at Roma Tre University.

“Even the institutions are saying what the Palestinians have been saying all along, that genocide is taking place,” Thunberg said, according to a Euronews report. She reportedly added that “the ceasefire is constantly being violated, and the Palestinians are still under attack.”

Notably, Thunberg did not mention that Hamas has repeatedly violated the terms of the ceasefire — including refusing to return the bodies of every hostage kidnapped on October 7, a blatant violation of the Trump-brokered deal — and has continued firing at Israeli forces.

UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese, who has a long record of promoting antisemitic and anti-Israel rhetoric, also addressed the conference.

“I fear that the genocide will continue, thanks to the silencing of the truth,” Albanese said, claiming that in Judea and Samaria some 1,200 Palestinians have been killed since October 7.

Albanese further claimed that there is “no Hamas” in Judea and Samaria — a demonstrably false claim, as polls consistently show widespread local support for Hamas. The terror group also dominates student councils at major universities in the region.

“Italy and the European Union must stop transferring weapons, conducting military exercises with Israel, and trading in technologies that could fuel the ongoing crimes,” Albanese added.

Saturday saw large-scale anti-Israel protests across Italy, causing significant disruptions, including more than 70 canceled flights.
