A far-left billionaire with longstanding ties to Marxist causes is now under investigation for financing activist networks across the United States, including groups opposing the construction of artificial intelligence data centers.

Neville Roy Singham, a technology entrepreneur who amassed his fortune in the software industry and is an avowed Marxist, is now the subject of a federal grand jury investigation examining his financial support for a network of activist organizations operating in multiple states.

According to reports, some of those groups have recently focused on campaigns seeking to delay or halt the development of AI data centers.

Speaking to Fox News Digital, former Treasury Department senior adviser and chief speechwriter Sam Lyman said the grand jury investigation could prove to be a watershed moment.

“It’s an enormous development because it’s one of the first legal actions that’s taking a deeper look into this network, which is among the most subversive political networks here in the United States, period,” Lyman told the outlet.

Singham, who resides in China, has previously been linked to a variety of progressive political organizations and activist causes in the United States.

Among them, he has been identified by multiple reports as a significant financial backer of anti-Israel demonstrations that spread across American college campuses following the Hamas-led October 7, 2023 massacres.

Lyman argued that the organizations connected to Singham share a consistent ideological agenda.

“The common thread in all of these nonprofit organizations is that they agitate against American causes — what they call American empire,” Lyman said.

“After Oct. 7, these nonprofit networks and their political affiliates were boots on the ground protesting Israel and any action Israel took in Gaza,” he added.

“They did the exact same thing when President Trump took office and started enforcing immigration laws. Now we’re seeing the exact same thing take place against the technology industry here in the United States.”
