Ted Cruz calls Tucker Carlson ‘the most dangerous demogague in America’

“I’ve seen more anti-Semitism on the right in the last 18 months than any time in my life, and it is spreading like a cancer.”

Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, called out social influencer Tucker Carlson and warned that antisemitism has become an “existential threat” to the United States.

Speaking at a Faith and Freedom Coalition town hall on Capitol Hill, Cruz sharply criticized commentator Tucker Carlson, calling him “the most dangerous demagogue in America,” and linked his remarks to what he said was a growing wave of antisemitism across the political spectrum.

“We are seeing a cancer on the right, and it is rising anti-Semitism,” Cruz said. He argued that Democrats had ignored growing antisemitism within their own party over the past decade until it “consumed” them.

“There is a very real pro-Hamas contingent of the Democrat Party,” he said, before adding, “here’s the scary thing: I’ve seen more anti-Semitism on the right in the last 18 months than any time in my life, and it is spreading like a cancer.”

The Texas Republican senator said antisemitism is increasingly prevalent among younger people and pledged to intensify his efforts to combat it.

“In particular,” he said, Jew hatred “is spreading, in particular, among young people.” Because he considers it an “existential threat,” Cruz said he had “resolved last year that I am going to do everything humanly possible to defeat this poison.”

He argued that antisemitism is “the gateway drug to anti-capitalism and anti-Americanism,” pointing to what he described as a “Green-Red alliance” involving “Comrade Mamdani in New York City.”

“The Islamists and Communists come together because they both hate the same people,” Cruz said, adding, “And spoiler alert, those people is us.”

Cruz also accused Carlson of targeting Christian Zionists, saying, “Tucker Carlson has said there’s nobody on planet Earth he hates more than Christian Zionists, and he named, in particular, the two people he hates most on planet Earth, are me and Mike Huckabee.”

“And you know what? I wear his scorn with pride, because I am proud to stand with Israel, and I’m proud to stand with America,” Cruz said. “And I’ll say this, Sharia law has no place in the United States of America.”

The event also featured House Majority Whip Tom Emmer, R-Minn., and Republican Conference Chair Lisa McClain, R-Mich. Cruz additionally criticized Brad Lander, Claire Valdez and Darializa Avila Chevalier, calling them “three communist lunatics” and citing their anti-Israel positions. He also noted that Chevalier defended attending a pro-Hamas protest on Oct. 8, 2023.
