Speaking publicly for the first time since surviving the terror attack that claimed the life of her child, Shira Ish-Ran thanked the nation for its support in her time of need.

Shira and Amichai Ish-Ran were two of the seven Israelis injured when a Palestinian assailant embarked on a drive-by shooting nearing the Ofra community in Samaria last Sunday.

Shira was 30 weeks pregnant when she was shot, and her baby was delivered immediately by c-section, but managed to cling to life for a mere four days before succumbing to his wounds.

On Sunday evening, the Ish-Rans addressed the Israeli media from Jeruslem’s Shaare Zedek Hospital, where they are receiving treatment from their injuries.

“I have received a lot of blood [since the attack],” said Shira.

“I feel like the nation of Israel is sustaining me,” she added, mentioning not only the prayers and support people have extended to her, but also the “physical” help she has received via blood transfusions.

Speaking after his wife, Amichai mentioned their newborn son, commenting that with only a few days of life, he “united the nation more than some people are able to do in a whole lifetime.”

The baby was given the name Amiad Yisrael, which means “my eternal nation” in Hebrew.

On Thursday, Shira stated to the Hebrew media, “I will show [the terrorists]. I will bring many more babies into this world. Am Yisrael chai.”
