Dr. Webberley has long been a polarizing figure in Britain’s transgender-care debate.
A controversial British GP is under fire after footage emerged of her likening sex-verification rules in women’s sports to the treatment of Jews under the Nazis.
“Ethnic cleansing—that’s what this is. Just like wartime, where you had to queue up and prove that you were pure enough to live,” Dr. Helen Webberley says as she stands before a picture of Auschwitz.
“And now we have to queue up and have a test to see whether we’re female enough to take part in female sports.”
Needless to say, the post was instantly met with outrage on social media.
“Stop weaponizing Jewish suffering; have you no shame? ” one user wrote, while another called it a “shocking display of Holocaust distortion.”
Dr. Webberley has long been a polarizing figure in Britain’s transgender-care debate.
A former GP in south Wales, she launched the online clinic GenderGP in 2015, offering hormone treatment to transgender patients on an informed-consent model at a time when NHS waiting lists were years long.
Her approach drew fierce criticism from regulators, culminating in a Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service ruling that found she committed “serious misconduct” in the care of a transgender teenager.
In March 2023, the High Court dramatically reversed that decision, finding the tribunal had failed to consider key evidence.
At the time, Webberley celebrated the overturned ruling as vindication for challenging an “outdated NHS model of care.”
But her regulatory battles did not end there. In 2018, Webberley was separately convicted of running an independent medical agency without proper registration, and in 2024 the General Medical Council withdrew her license to practice after she declined to sit a revalidation exam.
She remains on the medical register but is no longer permitted to work clinically, focusing instead on trans advocacy through GenderGP and its affiliated platforms.
