President Donald Trump reportedly received a high-level briefing from CENTCOM Commander Brad Cooper and Joint Chiefs Chairman Dan Caine on new military options against Iran Thursday night, according to Axios and Fox News.
Plans under discussion include a “short and powerful” wave of strikes targeting Iranian infrastructure, a possible operation to take control of parts of the Strait of Hormuz to restore shipping, and a potential special forces mission to secure Iran’s enriched uranium stockpile.
The proposals are described as a focused escalation designed to deliver a rapid, decisive “final blow” without a prolonged campaign.
U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal said, “I do have the impression, from some of the briefings that I have received, as well as other sources, that an imminent military strike is very much on the table.”
