Trump discusses Iran talks with Netanyahu, says call ‘went very well’

President Donald Trump denies reports that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was excluded from Iran deliberations, says phone call “went very well.”

President Donald Trump spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu by phone on Saturday, the president said, pushing back on reports that the Israeli head of government was excluded from telephone deliberations on the nuclear talks with Iran.

On Saturday, The New York Times reported that Netanyahu had been excluded from talks with US allies in the region on the emerging deal with Iran, noting that the premier was not included in a telephone summit held earlier that day.

The report framed the decision not to include the Israeli leader as a sign of the Trump administration’s growing frustration with Jerusalem’s opposition to the proposed nuclear deal.

However, Trump appeared to rebut the claims made by the Times, revealing that shortly after his conference call with leaders from US allies in the Middle East, he held a separate call with Netanyahu that he said “went very well.”

“I am in the Oval Office at the White House where we just had a very good call with President Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, of The United Arab Emirates, Emir Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani, and Minister Ali al-Thawadi, of Qatar, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir Ahmed Shah, of Pakistan, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, of Türkiye, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, of Egypt, King Abdullah II, of Jordan, and King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, of Bahrain, concerning the Islamic Republic of Iran, and all things related to a Memorandum of Understanding pertaining to PEACE,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social account.

“An Agreement has been largely negotiated, subject to finalization between the United States of America, the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the various other Countries, as listed.”

“Separately, I had a call with Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu, of Israel, which, likewise, went very well.”

Trump added that the “final aspects” of the deal are being hammered out and that an announcement will be made in the near future regarding an agreement.
