Trump: Iran ‘highly unstable,’ may attack ‘friendly countries’ if no deal reached

President Donald Trump warns US may strike Iran if no deal is reached, adding that Tehran could attack allies in the region.

The United States may be compelled to use military force against Iran if no deal is reached, President Donald Trump warned Wednesday, adding that Tehran could try to attack allied countries in the region.

In a post to his Truth Social account, Trump urged the British government not to cede sovereign control over Diego Garcia, an island in the Indian Ocean home to several military bases shared by the UK and US.

The island’s bases, Trump noted, play an important role in America’s ability to respond rapidly in the Middle East with strategic bombers, including B-52s.

Trump said that should the current efforts to reach a diplomatic solution with Iran fail, the US could be forced to respond with force if Iran attempts to strike “friendly countries.”

The president emphasized that Tehran is “highly unstable and dangerous.”

“Should Iran decide not to make a Deal, it may be necessary for the United States to use Diego Garcia, and the Airfield located in Fairford, in order to eradicate a potential attack by a highly unstable and dangerous Regime — An attack that would potentially be made on the United Kingdom, as well as other friendly Countries,” Trump wrote.

“Prime Minister Starmer should not lose control, for any reason, of Diego Garcia, by entering a tenuous, at best, 100 Year Lease. This land should not be taken away from the U.K. and, if it is allowed to be, it will be a blight on our Great Ally,” he added.

“We will always be ready, willing, and able to fight for the U.K., but they have to remain strong in the face of Wokeism, and other problems put before them. DO NOT GIVE AWAY DIEGO GARCIA!”

Trump penned the post a day after the US and Iran held the second round of nuclear talks in Geneva, during which both sides reported making progress.

However, Vice President JD Vance said afterward that despite the accomplishments during the Geneva talks, Iran still refuses to recognize America’s “red lines.”

“In some ways it went well. They agreed to meet afterward,” Vance told Fox News.

“But in other ways, it was very clear that the president has set some red lines that the Iranians are not yet willing to actually acknowledge and work through.”
