In a fierce post on his Truth Social platform, President Donald Trump addressed the ongoing conflict with Iran amid temporary ceasefire talks and negotiations.
Trump clarified that Israel did not pressure him into military action, pointing instead to the October 7th massacre as the strategic turning point.
The post comes as Trump seeks to set the record straight regarding the origins of the military campaign, dubbed “Operation Lion’s Roar.”
He explicitly rejected claims that Israeli officials enticed him into the conflict.
Trump stated that the events of Oct. 7 reinforced his longstanding strategic view.
“Israel never enticed me into a war with Iran. The results of October 7th added to my long-held opinion that Iran can never have a nuclear weapon.”
True to his signature style, Trump used the platform to launch a broadside against mainstream media outlets and recent polling data coming out of the United States.
Trump claimed he watches and reads “Fake News” commentators and polls with “total disbelief,” asserting that 90% of their reports are fabricated.
He tied the current media climate to his ongoing claims regarding the 2020 Presidential Election, labeling the polls as “rigged” in the same manner.
He also compared the media’s alleged bias to the lack of coverage regarding the situation in Venezuela.
Despite the military rhetoric, Trump concluded his post with a potential olive branch for the future of the Islamic Republic, provided there is a change in leadership.
“The results in Iran will be amazing: If the new leaders of Iran are smart, Iran can have a great and prosperous future!”
This statement highlights Trump’s stance that while the current regime’s nuclear ambitions are a red line, a change in Iranian governance could lead to American-backed prosperity for the nation.=
