Trump says ‘amazing two days ahead’ in Iran

President Trump says US has removed radical elements from Iranian regime, hinting at major developments in the next two days.

President Donald Trump hinted on Wednesday at major developments in Iran over the next 48 hours, expressing optimism that a possible second round of negotiations in Islamabad could lead to a diplomatic breakthrough.

“I think you’re going to be watching an amazing two days ahead,” Trump told ABC News. “I really do.”

The president added that he is not inclined to extend the two-week ceasefire, which began last Wednesday.

The first round of talks ended over the weekend with no breakthrough, after US officials said the Iranian delegation turned down the American proposal.

However, on Tuesday, President Trump said the American delegation will most likely return to Islamabad to continue talks with Tehran.

“You should stay there, really, because something could be happening over the next two days, and we’re more inclined to go there,” Trump told the New York Post.

“It’s more likely, you know why? Because the field marshal is doing a great job,” Trump continued, referring to Pakistani Field Marshal Gen. Asim Munir, who has helped broker the talks.

Trump denied reports that the White House has floated the idea of Iran accepting a two-decade moratorium on uranium enrichment.

“I’ve been saying they can’t have nuclear weapons,” Trump said. “So I don’t like the 20 years.”

During his interview with ABC News, Trump acknowledged that talks with Iran could go “either way,” but said that the odds of reaching a deal were bolstered by the targeted killings of hardliners in the Iranian regime.

“It could end either way, but I think a deal is preferable because then they can rebuild,” he said. “They really do have a different regime now. No matter what, we took out the radicals. They’re gone, no longer with us.”

“If I weren’t president, the world would be torn to pieces.”
