Trump sends letter to hostage families on Oct 7: ‘We will never forget’

Trump expressed gratitude to the Hostages and Missing Families Forum for nominating him for the Nobel Peace Prize, calling the recognition a “sincere honor.”

US President Donald Trump sent a letter to the Hostages and Missing Families Forum on the second anniversary of the October 7 massacre, pledging that his administration would “never forget the events of the Black Sabbath” and reaffirming his commitment to bringing home all remaining captives.

“My entire administration has been touched by the fact that, through the unimaginable pain and suffering of spending two years not knowing where your loved ones are, you have continued telling their stories and advocating on their behalf,” Trump wrote. He called the October 7, 2023, Hamas assault “abhorrent,” recalling how families were “ripped apart, children torn from their parents’ arms, and innocent people shot, killed, and raped.”

Trump said that from the outset he had been “resolved to returning all the hostages home, and ensuring the total destruction of Hamas so these horrific acts may never be repeated.”

He added that the United States remains “steadfastly committed to seeing an end both to this conflict and the waves of antisemitism, both at home and abroad.”

The letter was released as former hostages, their relatives, and U.S. officials gathered inside the “Sukkah of Hope” in Washington, D.C., to mark the anniversary and honor those still missing.

In the closing section of his message, Trump reiterated his guiding foreign policy principle of “peace through strength,” saying he intends to restore a world order that deters aggression and ends prolonged wars.

“As President, I remain steadfastly committed to, and will work tirelessly towards restoring a foreign policy of peace through strength, ending the years of endless wars not just in the Middle East, but around the world,” he wrote.

He concluded the letter with a blessing for the hostage families and the State of Israel, writing that he prays “this conflict will be at an end in the coming days—or else.”
