As America’s airport chaos deepens due to an ongoing Department of Homeland Security (DHS) shutdown, President Donald Trump is now threatening to dramatically send ICE agents directly into U.S. airports.
With TSA workers going unpaid for weeks and staffing shortages causing massive delays, Trump warned that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers could be deployed as early as Monday to take over key security roles if Democrats refuse to pass a funding deal.
The threat comes as airports across the country struggle under mounting pressure.
Long security lines, missed flights, and rising numbers of TSA agents who simply don’t show up have turned travel into a nightmare, with some airports having wait times that stretch for hours.
Trump framed the move as a necessary step to restore “real security,” claiming ICE agents would do the job “far better than ever done before,” while also emphasizing that immigration enforcement, particularly targeting illegal immigrants, would become part of the effort.
