Trump weighing ‘limited’ strikes on Iran: report

Failed negotiations leave Iran’s nuclear issue unresolved and tensions high.

President Donald Trump is considering launching limited strikes on Iran after talks aimed at securing a long-term ceasefire during the current two-week truce failed, The Wall Street Journal reported on Sunday.

According to the report, Trump views the potential strikes — alongside a newly announced naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz and Iranian ports — as a strategic measure to pressure Tehran back to the negotiating table.

The president is reportedly leaning toward targeted strikes on specific strategic assets rather than resuming a wide-scale bombing campaign. Officials cited concerns that escalating the conflict too quickly could further destabilize the region. However, a full-scale resumption of the war remains an option under consideration.

Speaking at a Maryland Air Force base on Sunday, Trump said he would be “fine” with a scenario in which Iran refuses to engage in further negotiations.

In a statement posted on his Truth Social platform after talks reached a dead end, Trump said Washington and Tehran had come to an agreement on many key issues. However, he emphasized that the most critical issue for the United States — Iran’s nuclear program — remains unresolved.

Despite the administration’s efforts, U.S. allies in Europe and beyond — including the United Kingdom, France, and Australia — have indicated they will not participate in a naval blockade of Iran or efforts tied to securing the Strait of Hormuz.

Meanwhile, Hebrew-language media reported Sunday that the IDF is preparing for the possibility of a return to full-scale war with Iran.

The developments come less than a week after Trump announced a temporary ceasefire with Tehran, prompting Israel’s Home Front Command to ease restrictions across much of the country.

With the exception of Israel’s north — where communities continue to face rocket, missile, and explosive drone fire from the Lebanon-based Hezbollah terror group — schools, businesses, and offices are operating under normal, non-wartime conditions throughout most of the country.
