Trump working to free all hostages at once, exile Hamas leaders – report

“We’re confident a deal can be reached, said a U.S. official.

After demanding that Israel and Hamas immediately implement a plan to stop the war in Gaza and free the remaining hostages, Trump has put forward a proposal that would liberate all of the captives and send Hamas leaders into exile, the Jerusalem Post reported.

A US official told the Post, “We’re confident a deal can be reached.”

Concerning the proposal, the US official indicated that 75% of the issues had been worked out, and the remaining 25% dealt with the humanitarian situation affecting Gazan civilians, how the war will be concluded, and measures to prevent Hamas from re-arming.

In the meantime, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met with officials at IDF Southern Command’s headquarters on Sunday to discuss the conclusion of the 21-month Gaza war.

The officials discussed with the Prime Minister the pros and cons of sending an Israeli representative to hostage deal and ceasefire talks, which will either take place in Doha or Egypt.

Speaking at Israeli security (Shin Bet) headquarters, Netanyahu reportedly said, “We will have to resolve the situation in Gaza and defeat Hamas, and I believe we will accomplish both goals. Beyond that, broader regional opportunities are emerging – and in nearly all of them, you are partners.”

Among the issues discussed was a previous proposal to exile Hamas leaders from the Gaza Strip.

A source stated that Iranian officials are awaiting the Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, to initiate negotiations with the US, despite rhetoric suggesting otherwise.

The source didn’t indicate whether the delay was due to Khamenei’s reluctance to engage in talks with the Trump administration or communication obstacles with the Supreme Leader.
