Tucker Carlson compares Zionism to Nazism, calls Netanyahu ‘main enemy of Western civilization’

Far-right pundit denounces Israel’s prime minister as the “main enemy” of Western civilization, comparing Zionism to Nazism after claiming Christians replaced Jews as “the chosen people.”

Podcaster Tucker Carlson denounced Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, calling Israel’s longest-serving head of government the “main enemy” of Western civilization while also comparing Zionism to Nazism in a recent online appearance.

Carlson, a former Fox News host who now operates an independent online show broadcast via X and YouTube, appeared on the “Shawn Ryan Show” on Monday, during which he vented his frustrations regarding the Republican Party, criticism of New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The 56-year-old media personality, who was a prominent backer of US President Donald Trump during the 2024 election campaign, castigated Zionism as a form of “identity politics,” comparing it to Nazism and the diversity, equity, and inclusion movement.

“There are enemies of Western civilization,” Carlson said. “An attack on Western civilization looks like this: It’s tribalism, it’s identity politics, it’s DEI, it’s whatever – Zionism.”

“It’s any belief system that begins with the understanding that one group is morally superior to other groups. We don’t think in terms of groups as Christians or Westerners; we think in terms of the individual.”

Carlson went on to single out Netanyahu by name, calling him the “main enemy” of the West.

“It’s literally that simple, and the reason it’s important to say this out loud is because there are so many interests vying for the mantle of defender of Western civilization,” he said.

“What does it mean to defend the West? You know, Netanyahu, ‘I’m a defender of Western civilization.’ No, you’re its enemy. Of course, you’re literally its main enemy.”

“Why are the Nazis bad? The Nazis are bad because for that exact same reason, and so, if you want to defend the West, you defend a single proposition, and everything emanates from that proposition.”

Carlson also reiterated unsubstantiated claims that disgraced financier and sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein worked as an Israeli intelligence asset and said Israel wields excessive influence over the American government.

“The Israelis were definitely involved,” said Carlson. “Ehud Barak was living at [Epstein’s] house.”

“Israel has way too much influence over our Congress,” he added.

The comments came nearly a month after Carlson’s interview of white nationalist and Hitler apologist Nick Fuentes sparked a firestorm of criticism within the conservative movement, highlighting divisions on the American right.

While his attack on Netanyahu is not the first time Carlson has denounced the Israeli premier as a threat to the West, it highlights increasingly sharp rhetoric toward Zionism along with a continuation of heavy reliance on controversial Christian theological views.

Last month, Carlson released a brief video message denouncing not only Christian Zionism but also the biblical claim of Jews as the chosen people as being “the oldest of the Christian heresies.”

Articulating beliefs rooted in supersessionism, also known as “replacement theology,” Carlson excoriated the theological belief in Jews as the chosen people, an idea explicitly laid out repeatedly in the Hebrew Bible.

“The whole point of Christianity,” Carlson argued, is that “there is no chosen people. The chosen people are people who choose Jesus. That is the Christian message right there.”

Once a mainstream belief within the Catholic Church, replacement theology argues that the eternal covenant between God and the Jewish people referenced repeatedly in the Hebrew Bible was nullified and replaced by the new covenant of the New Testament.

“The chosen people in Christianity are the people who choose Jesus. The entire New Testament is that story. And anyone who says otherwise has not read it or is lying,” he said.
