Two rockets fired at Israel from Syria

The Israeli military reported that two projectiles were fired from Syria toward the Golan Heights.

The IDF announced Saturday night that two rockets were fired from within Syria toward Israel’s Mount Hermon, which is situated in the Golan Heights.

There were no reports of casualties or damage.

Israeli media reported sirens warning of incoming rockets were not activated.

Mount Hermon remains a popular recreational area for hikers and skiers located near the holy city of Tzfat.

The incident represents the latest incursion from Syria, where the Iranian regime has attempted to establish a military foothold during the eight-year blood civil war.

Israel has acknowledged carrying out dozens of airstrikes in Syria on Iranian targets and Tehran’s allies.

Earlier this week, Israeli aircraft hit a Syrian military post after an anti-aircraft missile was fired at one of its fighter jets. Syrian media said a soldier was killed in the airstrike.

Israel has reiterated innumerable times that it will not allow Iran to establish a permanent military presence in Syria.

Iran, for its part, furnishes the Hamas and Hezbollah terror groups with hundreds of millions of dollars of aid to purchase weapons. As of late, Iran has also assisted Palestinian Islamic Jihad, which vies for power with Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
