President says that a new regime in Iran is in talks with the US, warns that if the Strait of Hormuz is not opened soon, the US will “completely obliterate” Iranian power plants and oil facilities and take “retribution” for Iranian terror.

President Donald Trump said on Monday that the United States is engaged in peace talks with a new Iranian regime, suggesting that regime change has already been achieved, without providing details on the identity of those involved in the talks.
Writing on his Truth Social account, the president said that the US is conducting “serious discussions” aimed at ending the current war with Iran.
“The United States of America is in serious discussions with A NEW, AND MORE REASONABLE, REGIME to end our Military Operations in Iran,” Trump wrote.
However, Trump warned that should the talks fail to end Iran’s partial closure of the Strait of Hormuz in the near future, the US will escalate its campaign in the Middle East, targeting Iranian power plants and energy infrastructure, including on Kharg Island in the Persian Gulf.
“Great progress has been made but, if for any reason a deal is not shortly reached, which it probably will be, and if the Hormuz Strait is not immediately ‘Open for Business,’ we will conclude our lovely ‘stay’ in Iran by blowing up and completely obliterating all of their Electric Generating Plants, Oil Wells and Kharg Island (and possibly all desalinization plants!), which we have purposefully not yet ‘touched’,” Trump continued.
“This will be in retribution for our many soldiers, and others, that Iran has butchered and killed over the old Regime’s 47 year ‘Reign of Terror’.”
Trump’s comments echo a claim he made a day earlier on Air Force One, in which the president said that “we’ve had regime change, if you look, already, because the one regime was decimated, destroyed. They are all dead.”
“The next regime is mostly dead,” Trump added. “And the third regime – we are dealing with different people than anybody has ever dealt with before. It is a whole different group of people. So, I would consider that regime change.”
