US, Israel to launch ‘short, powerful’ attack on Iran: report

A senior Israeli source described the expected operation as short, targeted and decisive.

The United States and Israel are finalizing plans to launch a series of short but powerful strikes on Iran following Tehran’s missile and drone attack on the United Arab Emirates Monday evening, according to a CNN report.

A senior Israeli official told the network that Washington and Jerusalem are working in close coordination, suggesting the strikes are imminent. The campaign is expected to focus on Iran’s energy infrastructure and will include targeted assassinations of senior regime officials, the source said.

“The goal is to carry out a short operation that will put pressure on the Iranians to grant additional concessions in the negotiations,” the Israeli official stated.

The source emphasized that Israel is fully aligned with the United States and will not act without Washington’s approval. The final decision on whether to proceed with the strikes rests with U.S. President Donald Trump, the official added.

On Monday evening, Iran launched more than a dozen explosive drones and missiles at the UAE, marking a sharp escalation after a nearly monthlong ceasefire during which Tehran had halted attacks on the Gulf state.

An Emirati government official told CNN late Monday that, in response to the attack, the United States and Israel were expected to carry out strikes on Iran within 24 hours — potentially by Tuesday evening.

During the previous round of conflict, which began in late February and ended with a fragile ceasefire in early April, the UAE was among the most heavily targeted countries by Iran. Tehran launched thousands of drones and ballistic missiles at the Emirates, striking oil infrastructure and critical civilian sites, including Dubai International Airport.

Meanwhile, Israel has taken visible steps indicating it is preparing for a possible escalation. Authorities have reopened public bomb shelters and begun inspections to ensure they are operational, signaling readiness for renewed hostilities.
