Document: US, N. Korea aim for ‘complete denuclearization of Korean Peninsula’

Ahead of a press conference, photographs of the document signed by Trump and Kim indicate the leaders agreed to “work toward complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.”

Photographs of the document signed Tuesday by President Donald Trump indicate he and the North Korean leader have agreed to “work toward complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.”

Trump and Kim Jong Un concluded an extraordinary summit Tuesday with the signing of the document, which the US president described as “pretty comprehensive.”

The document indicates the leaders will work toward establishment of “new US-Democratic People’s Rrepublic of Korea relations.”

The document reads:

“President Trump and Chairman Kim Jong Un conducted a comprehensive, in-depth, and sincere exchange of opinions on the issues related to the establishment of new US-DPRK relations and the building of a lasting and robust peace regime on the Korean Peninsula. President Trump committed to provide security guarantees to the DPRK, and Chairman Kim Jong Un reaffirmed his firm and unwavering commitment to complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.”
