US ‘ready to help’ Iranian protesters, Trump vows

Iran is in “big trouble,” says President Trump, signaling the US is prepared to intervene after warning the regime repeatedly not to kill demonstrators.

President Donald Trump said over the weekend that the US is “ready to help” Iranian anti-regime protesters, in the latest indication the Trump administration may intervene militarily.

On Saturday, Trump lauded the protest movement in Iran, hinting that the US could take action to help protesters.

“Iran is looking at FREEDOM, perhaps like never before,” Trump wrote. “The USA stands ready to help!!!”

Earlier that day, Trump also reposted comments by Senator Lindsey Graham, a longtime advocate for American action in Iran, praising Secretary of State Marco Rubio for openly backing the protesters in Iran.

“The United States supports the brave people of Iran,” Rubio wrote on his X account.

“Well said, Secretary Rubio,” Graham responded. “This is truly not the Obama administration when it comes to standing up to the Iranian ayatollah and his religious Nazi henchmen, and standing behind the people of Iran protesting for a better life.”

“To the regime leadership: Your brutality against the great people of Iran will not go unchallenged. Make Iran Great Again.”

Trump has in recent days repeatedly hinted that the US could become directly involved in the Iranian unrest, suggesting he could order strikes on regime forces, while ruling out the deployment of ground forces.

On Friday, Trump said his administration is “watching the situation” in Iran “very carefully,” reiterating his warnings to the Iranian government not to harm protesters.

“If they start killing people like they have in the past, we will get involved.”

Trump said the Islamic Republic appears to be “in big trouble,” calling the unrest payback for the regime’s “bad job.”

“Iran’s in big trouble. It looks to me that the people are taking over certain cities that nobody thought were really possible just a few weeks ago.”

“This is something pretty incredible that’s happening in Iran. It’s an amazing thing to watch.”

“They’ve done a bad job. They’ve treated their people very badly, and now they’re being paid back.”
