The United States urged Americans to reconsider all travel to the Middle East on Monday, warning that Iran and its proxies could target US interests worldwide as the conflict with Tehran continued to intensify. The State Department also cautioned travelers to expect flight disruptions and rapidly changing security conditions.
The warning came as US Central Command (CENTCOM) launched a tenth consecutive night of strikes on Iran, targeting military command centers, missile and drone launch sites, maritime capabilities, and air defenses. President Donald Trump warned Tehran that “every time Iran kills an American soldier they will pay many times over,” after the Pentagon confirmed that nearly 100 US service members have been injured since July 7, though most have already returned to duty.
Meanwhile, Iran claimed it fired missiles at a US base in Kuwait, struck US military systems in Bahrain, and reported two oil tankers caught fire in the Strait of Hormuz, while Kuwait activated its air defenses against incoming missiles and drones. The Iranian claims have not been independently verified.
As attacks spread across the Gulf, the conflict is increasingly spilling beyond Iran’s borders, fueling fears of a wider regional war and further disruption to one of the world’s most critical energy corridors.
